Truckee River Flood 1958 >> On August 18, 1958 a rainstorm of cloudburst proportions deluges the Truckee River in the vicinity of Farad, three miles west of the California-Nevada State Line. Within an hour 2 men were dead, transcontinental highway 40 was closed by mud and rock slides.
