An Interview with Barry Flamm >>Oral history interview with Barry Flamm, February 24, 2023, Polson, MT >>Barry Flamm was born in 1933 and grew up in Ohio before moving west to study forestry at Colorado A&M (now Colorado State) University. While living there, Flamm was instrumental in forming the Colorado Conservation Council. He started as an Assistant Ranger on the Gila NF in New Mexico. In 1966, he assumed the role of Forest Supervisor on the Shoshone NF in Wyoming--the job he says he loved the most. Of particular note are his memories of living in Vietnam from 1967 to 1969 as part of a Forest Service team sent to consult the South Vietnamese on their forestry practices, and his role as a member of the Council on Environmental Quality during the Nixon, Ford, and Carter Administrations.
