An Interview with Anthony Escobar >>Oral history interview with Anthony Escobar, San Diego, CA, March 24, 2023 >>Describes his long career in the hotshot world. Started in 1973 as a Los Padres Hotshot, where he worked for three seasons before transitioning to the Helishots. He was detailed to take over one of the earliest BLM hotshot crews in 1983 based out of Bakersfield, CA. He worked for the BLM as a hotshot supervisor until 2000, when he became an AFMO for the BLM. In 2007, he returned to his first forest to become the Fire Chief on the Los Padres NF, where he retired in 2012. |
