Absaroka Forest Reserve Proclamation1902 >> A Proclamation by the President of the United States, Theodore Roosevelt, to withdraw Public Domain lands to establish the Absaroka Forest Reserve, Montana, dated September 4, 1902. By the authority, the Timber Culture Repeal Act of March 3, 1891 (Forest Reserve Act of1891, Section 24, Section 24). >> On July 1, 1908 with 980,400 acres the Absaroka National Forest was established, including portions of Yellowstone National Forest and all of Crazy Mountain National Forest. On February 17, 1932 part of Beartooth National Forest was added. On July 1, 1945 the entire forest was divided between Lewis and Clark and Gallatin National Forests. Proclamation is Attached |
