An Interview with Wayne Williams >>Oral history interview with Wayne Williams >>Details his long career as a Missoula Smokejumper, includes interesting descriptions of his role in the rescue operations of a FS plane crash in the Selway River in the summer of 1979, as well as being a first responder to the South Canyon Fire in 1994. Both stories involve descriptions of the recovery of bodies and details about the fatality scenes. Towards the end of the interview, he describes the role he played in putting together the 1991 and 1999 Mann Gulch Reunions, which involved a lengthy and involved process of tracking down one of the few remaining survivors and convincing him to participate.
