An Interview with Dick Bennett >>Oral history interview with Dick Bennett, Canby, OR, October 25, 2022 >>Dick Bennett was born in 1933 in Seattle, Washington. Grew up in Pasadena, California. Bennett worked at a factory for a few years after high school before attending Sacramento State, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. His first assignment in the outfit took him to the Klamath National Forest, where he did a year of on-the-job training. His first permanent assignment took him to the Stanislaus National Forest, where he managed the forest budget. After four years he moved to DC to take a job running the Payments Office in the Washington Office. He eventually moved to Portland, where he spent the bulk of his career. His interview gives a good sense of what it was like to work in Forest Service Administration before and after the computer revolution.
