Rolland Huff Diary, April 13 to July 27, 1938 >> Position: Forest Supervisor, Colville National Forest, Republic, Washington >> April 28 --By Government car to Spokane. Interviewed by appointment Mr. Lytle Zone Engineer from WPA concerning Kettle Falls airfield. Told him we could furnish D___ 70 Bulldozer, ___ and possible a scraper. if they would furnish operating expense also no relief foreman. he thought that we could do that and will take the matter up immediately. Returned Republic >> May 16 -- Checking on ERA expenditures as to time spent ____ ___. Held conference with [Lloyd L.] Hougland, [Paul E.] Barden and Halverson. Mr. Victor Lazcamey (sp?) with [assistant ranger Darroll K.] Frewing. Lazcamey wants to come no early with one band that goes on Elkhorn Lake Allotment. Wanted to rail across the aeneas (sp?) range and down Bench Creek. Told him we had no authority to allow him to go this route but if he wants to provide his own way after reaching the ____ we would not stop him. He also wanted to trail into Republic via Swan Lake but refused to allow him to do that. PM Letter regarding ERA finance also letter regard property. Sent R6 O C for equipment storage. Drove 10 miles and inspected the camp map work. |
