An Interview with Jere Christner >>Oral history interview with Jere Christner, May 24, 2022, Denver, CO >> Jere Christner was born in Watsonville, CA in 1943. A second generation forester, Christner's father worked briefly for the outfit before World War II. After the war, his father worked for Colorado State Forestry, Nevada State Forestry, and the Soil Conservation Service. He started at Colorado State but finished his bachelor's at Utah State. After a stint in the Army, Christner began his career in the FS. He worked as a hydrologist in the Region Two office, on the Grand Mesa Uncompahgre NF, the Toiyabe NF, the Willamette, and finished his career on the Tongass NF.
