Forestry Sciences Laboratory Dedication May 19,1967 >> Senator Lee Metcalf (MT) was the primary speaker at the dedication of the Forest Service's new research facility on the University of Montana Campus in Missoula. Joseph F. Pechanec, Director of the Intermountain Forest and Range Experiment Station, Ogden, Utah, was the master of ceremonies. George M. Jemison, deputy chief of Forest Service Research will formally open the laboratory. >> Philip C. Johnson, prominent in forest insect research, retired July 25, 1969 from the Intermountain station, Forestry Sciences Laboratory in Missoula. From 1931 - 1953 he was with the USDA Bureau of Entomology and Plant Quarantine. Since 1961 he headed the Station's bark beetle research work in Missoula. (2-page news release) |
