An Interview with Cheryl Taylor >>Oral history interview with Cheryl Taylor, Big Timber, MT, June 15, 2022 >>Cheryl Taylor was born in Sunnyside, Washington in 1949. She attended Spokane Community College, where she graduated out of the Water Resources Program. During her summers off from school, she held seasonal posts on Round Top Mountain at St. Mary's Ranger District and the Fernan Ranger District in Idaho. After graduation, she worked for years as a seasonal employee, first at the Supervisor's Office at the Beaverhead National Forest in Dillon, Montana, for eight months. After a three year hiatus, she returned to the outfit as a seasonal on the Gallatin National Forest in Bozeman. After five years, her temporary position was converted to a permanent position, and she spent the remainder of her career as a Water Technician on the Gallatin. Of particular note are her insights into what it was like to be a woman in a diversifying organization, her stories of field work, and her description of her role in re-evaluating water claims across Montana in the 1990s.
