Steve Yurich Obituary and Career Information 2011 Steve Yurich passed away March 31, 2011 in Albuquerque, NM. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in World War II, making landings on Kwajalein Islands, Guam and Okinawa. After his service he attended Colorado State University earning a degree in forestry. Steve began his Forest Service career in Dubois, WY. He held the position of Regional Foresters for the Northern Region in Missoula and the Eastern Region In Milwaukee, WI. Earlier in his career he was Forest Supervisor on the Chequamegon National Forest in Wisconsin. Also in this folder is a reprint of a Time magazine article published July 20, 1959. Steve is one of the rangers mentioned in the article during time he was a District Ranger on the San Juan National Forest in Colorado. Other District Rangers described in the article were: Edwin Youngblood, Hiawatha National Forest in Michigan; Ted Seely, Pisgah National Forest North Carolina; and George E. Engstrom Carson National Forest New Mexico |
