R. C. Henley >> Received appointment in 1908 on the Deerlodge National Forest and was assigned to the Allen Company Timber Sale in French Gulch, 20 miles southeast of Anaconda, MT. Scaled stulls mining timbers, 14 to 16 feet in length and 6 to 16 inches top diameter. C. C. Hall was Forest Supervisor. The stulls were transported by flume to 5 miles SE Anaconda and loaded into railroad cars. The flume system was 35 miles long. The flume crossed the Continental Divide at 6,600 ft. Worked sale marking and scaling until 1916.The Allen Company Sale was taken over by the Mines Timber Company in 1911.
