Albert K. Wiesendanger >> 7-page memo - A unique individual because of his age when joining the Forest Service. Albert was born on March 19, 1893 in Portland, Oregon. In 1909, days before his 16th birthday, he received his appointment as messenger in the Portland District Office. Later after attending night school, he took the Clerk examination and in 1911 appointed a clerk. Started giving illustrated talks to boys and girls of forestry and fire prevention. Accompanied C. S Chapman and George Cecil on many field trips to gain field experience. 1915 took the Forest Ranger examination and in 1915 was a Assistant Forest Ranger on the Mt. Hood National Forest, Forest Supervisor T. H. Sherrard place Albert at the Eagle Creek Campground in the Columbia Gorge. The area had just been designated by the Secretary of Agriculture. >> Albert's memo contains 4-pages describing the duties he performs.
