Administrative Appeal of Denial of Ski Area Permit 1965-1967 Tahoe National Forest Supervisor Henry E. Branagh rejected the application of Alexander C. Cushing, President of the Squaw Valley Development Company for a special use permit to authorize installation of a ski lift. (letter dated April 14,1965). The permit was denied because of a history of non-compliance and never-ending controversies. Cushing appealed the decision to the California Regional Forester who agreed with the Forest Supervisors decision Cushing appealed the decision to Edward P. Cliff, Chief US Forest Service. The Chief in his decision of May 16, 1966 agreed with the Forest Supervisors decision. Cushing appealed the decision to the Secretary of Agriculture. Again the Secretary's January 17, 1967 agreed with the Forest Supervisors decision. |
