ACM Open Grown Young Ponderosa Pine Second Growth Stand 1932 A man is standing by a tree. ACM (Anaconda Copper Mining Company) relogging area. Picture point indicated by scribe on butt of 10 inch ponderosa pine tree. Showing a close-up of the character and size of the residual stand. Tree in back of old stump is 12.7 inch DBH. Old stump in foreground and one in background with ax stuck into it are of the 1887 and 1927 cuts, respectively. The 12.7 inch tree is 46 years old. The old stump directly in back of the tree is also from the original cutting of 1887. Most of the trees in the plot are from 6 inch to 12 inch DBH. ACM (Anaconda Copper Mining Company) until 1915 known as the Amalgamated Copper Mining Company) managed forest land in the Blackfoot River area of Montana. ACM operated a large sawmill at Bonner.
