K&E Staff Compass and Case ca. 1920 >> Staff Compass: Manufactured by Keuffel & Esser Company, New York. >> Two bubble levels; Brass thimble for mounting to Jacob Staff attached; A brass socket with ball joint is in leather case pocket; Leather case, light brown, reddish color >> Compass is divided into quadrant degrees; Last calibrated 1983 >> Originally owned by Bob Van Gieson's father. Engraved on bottom of the compass "Sanford Van Gieson, Avon, Montana". The family states that Sanford was in Avon ca 1920 >> The Keuffel and Esser Co., also known as K & E, was a drafting instrument and supplies company founded in 1867 by two German immigrants, William J.
