Description |
McCulloch Super 33. >> This model with its bar tilted up was manufactured during 1954, 55 and 56. It did not really catch on with users, but it was present during the last of the transition from crosscut to chainsaws. >> When Tom Finch returned to Forest Service work in 1947, the relatively light one-man chainsaws were becoming popular. As lighter and better saws became available, my old Super 33 came close to being discarded. After it laid around for years in need of repair. I contacted Frank Lewis. He had worked some in the woods and then became a chainsaw mechanic. He worked for John Deere in Missoula and another saw shop for about 25 years. He agreed to work on the Super 33, and he made it run again. It is loud and the chain is sharp. To start it, hold the throttle trigger back and spray a little gasoline into the open choke, then crank it. Frank can start it with one pull on the starter rope. A fuel mixture of 32 to 1, i.e. four ounces of modern chainsaw oil to one gallon of gasoline is recommended. |
