Joined the U.S. Forest Service In 1921, and served as the first District Ranger of Allegheny National Forest from March, 1923, until July, 1927, when the Forest was reorganized into a "two-ranger" unit. He served several southern National Forests, and became the first supervisor of the Mississippi National Forests. In 1940, he was promoted to Directing Chief of Fire Control for the Southern Region; In 1956 he was transferred to the position of Assistant to the Chief of Operations in Washington, D.C. Retired 1961 |
