1959 Forest Supervisor of the Shasta-Trinity. He was Sequoia before that. He was Mendocino Supervisor at 36 years old and was also the first GS-15 Forest Supervisor. He published technical papers in Fire Control Notes like the Stahem Firefinder in 1940 and Moving from Fire Control Organization to Fire Management which was a required reading in my Advanced Wildland Fire class at Humboldt State Univ. My Father was also a Forester, now 87. I (Heidi Hosler) have 41 years in now myself if you count all my seasonal years but total 34 years in service so am very close to retiring. I moving to Arizona then and want my USFS collection to go to a good place. He wrote in 1971 about the night DB Cooper hijacked the plane….. very interesting, involves his contacts with the CIA, the FBI and the Redding Smokejumper Base that he got started on the Shasta-T… he lays out very good case for who D.B. Cooper is, the head of the base who was also working for the CIA in Laos during the off-season…… My Grandfather was a great man, smart, funny …and he LOVED the Forest Service. Dale Bosworth's mother signed the card for my baby shower for Heidi Hosler along with the wives of some of the other men in the pictures you sent… they were on the Plumas NF when we lived at Laufman Ranger Station there when I was born in 1957.
